Potential Side Effects: 

  • Large doses may cause stomach pain, vomiting and/or diahorria

  • Vary rarely large doses can cause liver problems, including severe liver failure

  • Some people may suffer from allergic reaction

 

Who Should Avoid:

  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Avoid for at least 2 weeks prior to surgery or undergoing anaesthetic

  • Do not take if you suffer from an auto-immune disease such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus or Multiple Sclerosis

  • Do not take if you suffer from a Thyroid condition or take Thyroid medication

  • Do not take if you are on sedative medication as interactions can be dangerous

  • Do not take if you are taking Immunosuppressant medications as this can lessen the effects of the medication

  • Be cautious if you take Anti-Diabetes medication as the combined reaction can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar levels

  • Be cautious if taking with Antihypertensive medication as the combined reaction can cause dangerous drops in blood pressure

 

Recommended Dosage:

  • 50-1000mg taken orally daily for up to three months is safe and effective for most treatments

  • There is no information on the long-term effects of Ashwagandha so please do not exceed length of dosage

  • Safe for children in smaller doses; do not exceed 250mg per day
