Potential Side Effects: 

  • Large doses may cause headaches and constipation or diarrhoea

  • Although generally tolerated when applied topically, can cause skin irritation

  • Possibility to disrupt hormonal development- should be avoided by prepubescent children and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Some people may suffer from allergic reaction

 

Who Should Avoid:

  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Do not take if if you are under 18 or have not finished puberty

  • Avoid for at least 2 weeks prior to surgery or undergoing anaesthetic

  • Do not take if you are on sedative medication as interactions can be dangerous

 

Recommended Dosage:

  • 80-160mg taken orally daily for up to three months is safe and effective for most treatments. 

  • Can also be used as a topical oil

  • Can also be used in aromatherapy

  • Safety and dosages for children have not been demonstrated, this herb is for adults only
